Franz Hoffmann™ Prelude Cello Outfit - 4/4 size

I have been with Shar Music since 2013. This is the first negative review l have written. I wanted this cello as a back up cello for my cello choir. I was on the waiting list for a couple of months. I ordered the Prelude Premium Cello Package. When the
cello arrived it looked nothing like the picture on line. It was just a solid colored on the front, no light and dark pattern like the picture in the magazine or online. The color was a darker tone. There were a couple of noticable blemishes on the front and
a scratch on the back. The cello seemed to be a little small compared to my full size Samuel Shen. The bow was nice and the bag was nice. The cello arrived within two days. Customer service was wonderful. They helped with returning the cello. I think this
cello would be nice for a student and Shar made it clear this was an intermediate cello when l inguired about the instrument. I will continue to buy items from Shar because l still believe they are wonderful.

This cello has a really nice sound and is the perfect size for me. The Prelude strings are surprisingly excellent sounding strings at this price point. As a beginning cellist, I feel that this instrument was a very good purchase.

This cello is beautiful and sounds amazing for its price range! Thank you Shar! I only have two complaints: 1, the bridge is fitted well but is of a poor quality and won't last long before it begins warping, it is also a little high for a beginner. 2 the feel of the neck doesn't match the sound of the cello the neck is fat and a little bulky for a student's hand to get around. Much better than the local rental cellos we could find out here.

I am an intermediate violinist and a new cello student. What a nice sounding cello! I purchased it on clearance and it definitely has some character in the varnish and carving, but it's sound is marvelous! It is also just the right size for me as a petite player. I was told I may be surprised at just how nice it sounds, and they were right! I am upgrading the Prelude strings and Workshop bow, only because the strings feel very hard under the fingers and the bow is a little heavy and stiffer than I would like. With these upgrades, I hope to improve an already great sound and get better playability.
