Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Launches On 25th May, But "Later" On Switch

I've decided I am getting one of the newest gens solely for Street Fighter 6. So all of these "late" on the Switch games" will only be considered - if at all - for the consoles they were designed for.

Also, I want to think more about Street Fighter 6.

For some reason, I am not super excited for this game. I was initially, but I think the delays have caused me to lose interest. I am still kind of wanting to see more. Perhaps I need to check out some gameplay videos, if there are any out there yet.

I wonder if this is arriving "later" for Switch like Evil Dead...

As much I love Lord of the rings franchise this looks disappointing out all the characters your playing as why couldn't they picked someone like Gandalf as the focus.

Will give this a pass doesn't look interesting this could have been easily open world RPG such big missed opportunity.

And somewhere from beyond the grave the Wii U can be heard saying: Been there, done that.

Such a great license, but why spend an entire game on the one character nobody gives two dimes about. that’s probably what’s been causing the delay; a project which should have been killed. Long time ago. Or, am I missing something here?

Pro Switch model incoming later this year

I'm going to put myself in the cautiously optimistic category, for this one, and if it is a great game I am definitely going to buy it on a more powerful console.

I dislike literally everyone who comes on the posts about this game and just whines because the game isn't for them. Imagine if I did that for every Jrpg and shoot 'em up, what a waste of energy. Gollums one of my top ten literary characters of all time, and his character has an extremely interesting journey and arc interwoven throughout the lore. I'm genuinely excited nely excited for this game, though maybe not the switch port.

Here goes my theory as for why many dislike the idea of this game.
Going from the notion that videogames are escapist fantasies for many, they want to play as idealized characters: handsome guys, muscular dudes, sexy voluptuous honeys, or even if they are losers or weirdos, they have their redepmtion arc to bring them peace. On the other hand, they see Gollum, and just picture a grotesque being, smelly, weak and scrawny, and they want nothing to do with it.

@Poodlestargenerica I’m having a hard time getting excited , but the concept alone is pretty interesting. Always loved Gollum and what he represented as a reflection of Frodos struggle. Gandalfs advice to Frodo in regards to not passing judgment on Gollum too quickly is one that I think back on a lot.

Having been a Tolkien megafan in my school years i can't just not play this game. More time in the oven also hopefully means the game will be better optimized, either way i'm excited!

@nickp The character definitely has his fans, so saying nobody cares about him is a pretty bold statement. But moving beyond that, the game takes place in the lord of the rings world. That is extremely appealing to many people who just want to wander around and take in the environments and locations and characters they’ve read about and seen in the movies/show. Just my take on it.

This game will be left on the shadow of Zelda unfortunately.
