Yeah one of the first things that came to mind after learning of the 24 racers was hoping that Baby park is in this.

@Bolt_Strike I'll agree to an extent with ROB and Pac-Man, but I disagree with Olimar being too niche of an addition, given that Pikmin's grown more in popularity after game 4.

Just gimme Monty Mole and I'm set!

It HAS to be Wind Waker!!

I'm hoping that all the Tour newcomers like Dixie Kong, all four Bro enemies (Hammer, Boomerang, Fire and Ice), Captain Toad, Monty Mole, Nabbit, King Bob-Omb, Chargin' Chuck and Poochy should make it.

Above all else, I hope the costumes from Tour return along with new ones! If designing the roster menu gets to be a mess, they can always hide variants and costumes away in submenus like 8 DX already does characters like Yoshis and Shy Guys among others.

@Dev-N Gosh, now that you mentioned it, I'd love to play as Captain Toad! He's adorable and I love his game too. Would love to see all the costumes make a return as well.

@Dev-N As far as characters returning from Tour, I want to see Pauline, Nabbit, Dixie Kong, and Kamek.

But characters are not what I most want to see return from Tour. I want to see Tour's mechanics (non-gacha mechanics of course) carry over. Tour does a lot of neat things that the main games can learn from.

First of all, there's the shop system. Being able to buy characters, karts, and kart parts is kind of a no brainer and should be the standard going forward. 7 and 8's system of having them unlock randomly at certain intervals has always been dumb and the shop system is what this should be.

Second, there's the track variants. Tour did a great job of creating twists on the various tracks and making them feel like new courses. R variants, T variants, R/T variants, RMX variants. I don't think they can quite do all of these, but at least R variants and maybe an RMX course here and there should at least be considered.

Then there's the Tour system. Having rotating sets of cups would definitely help give the game more evergreen content and keep people playing for years. I don't think they can quite replicate it in a more traditional Mario Kart game, but anything remotely similar would be an absolute positive for this game.

I would also say consider Tour's scoring system, it is pretty fun in its own right getting to chain actions together. Unlike Tour though, I don't think that this should be a primary gameplay mode. I think it should be a new kind of gameplay mode, maybe a new Score Attack mode?

Then there's some other smaller things Tour brought back from past games. Multiple items (possibly bringing back Frenzies, but IDK if that would be balanced in a traditional game), special items, mission mode, they all add variety and they should stay.

Tour was kind of controversial, rightfully so for the gacha elements, but there's actually some mechanics here that would improve over MK8D if carried over. This is part of the reason why I don't buy it when people think MK8D is peak/that the only way to improve on it is to just add more characters. No. We haven't reached peak yet when other games have this kind of mechanical variety. MK8D is a highly polished game with a wealth of courses, but mechanically there's still room for improvement.

@Bolt_Strike Yes on that last part. MK8D is a great racer, but it's also a safe one. Sure, it has the characters and courses, but not much else. As you say, bring mission mode back. Put extra race modes into the game, such as Tour's Score Attack. Which can also then be used as part of a challenge mode, much like Tour's special cups where players competed for the highest score on that cup. Could even expand on that, with other special conditions in which to complete a special cup such as longest time drifting.

There absolutely is a lot that could be done to make the next entry the peak of Mario Kart in terms of variety of content, not just quantity of it. And here's something else. Many people keep saying the tracks will need to be wider to accommodate 24 racers. I don't believe they do. The width of the tracks is absolutely fine. If the tracks are widened, they'll just feel empty after the initial opening rush once the pack has spread out.

I hoped they would go for a Smash bros kart this time, but nope just good old Mariokart. I am curious about that new DK design though...new DK game incoming? I really hope so! And I wonder how Diddy wil look, asuming he's also in the new Mariokart.
