Talking Point Which Games Were Just The Perfect Length?
And which outstayed their welcome?
We've all watched films that could have stood to lose 30 minutes from their runtime. That whole last act of Bad Boys II? Should've been left on the cutting room floor, mate. It's the same with many a game. Alien: Isolation is fantastic, but how much better might it have been with a little tightening, to remove some...
Talking Point What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?
(But in a good way)
Stop right there! We know what you're thinking. You're expecting a long list of games that we wish we had never played. The stinkers that took up 20 hours we'll never get back. Well, you're wrong! We are not about to be a negative Nancy and dunk on some bad games just because we wish we could wipe them from our minds. This is...
Random Valve's Gabe Newell On Game Delays: "Late Is Just For A Little While, Suck Is Forever"
That sounds familiar...
In Valve's new documentary celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Half-Life series, the company's co-founder Gabe Newell has shared his own thoughts about the differences between a delayed game and a rushed release. He summed it up as "late is just for a little while, suck is forever" when touching on the challenges Valve...

And an NFL game?!
Retro Studios is best known for its work on the Metroid and Donkey Kong franchises. Still, the developer has dabbled in a number of intriguing projects that have unfortunately wound up on the cutting room floor. DidYouKnowGaming is back with another deep dive video looking into the studio's history, specifically detailing 8...
Soapbox Zelda: TOTK's Shrines Are Brilliant At Making An Idiot Feel Like A Genius
I did it, mum!
Soapbox features enable our individual writers and contributors to voice their opinions on hot topics and random stuff they've been chewing over. Today, Ollie wants to share his love for Tears of the Kingdom's shrines and the newfound freedom they afford players... I'm really not a very clever man. Okay no, that's not entirely true;...

Feature Backlog Club: Portal 2 Made Me Feel Clever, Despite My Minor Case Of Serious Brain Damage
Sweet Caroline
Rule number one of Backlog Club: Work through your pile of unplayed video games one at a time, and discuss them with other people. Rule number two of Backlog Club: Don't talk about Backlog Club. Just kidding! Tell everyone. Please. This article is part of our new experimental series, Backlog Club, where we (Nintendo Life!) pick a...
Random GlaDOS Actress Really Wants Valve To Make Portal 3
"You've got my blessing!"
One of the biggest surprises of the year was undoubtedly the launch of Portal and Portal 2 via the Portal: Companion Collection on Switch. Widely regarded as two of the greatest video games of all time, the ports run like butter on Nintendo's hybrid console, no doubt introducing a swathe of new players to the world of...
Feature Backlog Club: Portal's A Triumph - I'm Making A Note Here: HUGE SUCCESS
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture Science. We do what we must, because we can. For the good of all of us — except the ones who are dead — I am going to talk about Portal. It's a puzzle game. It's a 3D first-person shooter. It's a comedy about untrustworthy robot overlords. And yes, it's a modern classic, and yes, I hadn't played...
Talking Point What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 13th)
We're starting a cult...
The heat's back, and we're desperately trying to stay indoors here at Nintendo Life. We've got a round-up of everything that was shown off in the Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct! Also, were feeling a bit peckish after Kirby's Dream Buffet got a release date. And there's a beautiful
About The Game
Including Portal and Portal 2, the Companion Collection comes to Nintendo Switch with all the groundbreaking gameplay, dark humor, and exploration that earned the series hundreds of awards.
In Portal, you’ll use a highly experimental portal device to solve physical puzzles and challenges. Maneuver objects--and yourself--through space to puzzle your way through the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories.
Return to Aperture Laboratories in Portal 2 where you’ll once again face off with the lethally inventive, power-mad A.I. named GLaDOS.
Meet an expanded cast of characters as you think your way through dangerous, never-before-seen areas of the laboratories and a wider variety of portal puzzles. Plus Portal 2 also includes a co-operative game mode with local, split-screen and online multiplayer so you and a friend can think with portals.
Comments 1
You can find secrets hidden and scattered throughout the companion collection, (mostly more scribblings on whiteboards and walls) especially in the areas outside the official testing courses of the cooperative testing initiative for portal 2.
