Topic: Rugrats - Nintendo Switch - Won't give coins??

New sealed game from Amazon. Played a bit of it yesterday love it but want to finish totally Spies nintendo switch first before starting rugrats nintendo switch. When I tried to get my coins it say's error code: 2016-0402 You receive the error message you cannot collect my nintendo points for this software yet. Went into the nintendo eshop on the switch it said: 9/10/24. That was several month's ago & this is a brand new game. I don't understand this as to why it won't give coins on a new game... 🤷‍♀️✌️

@Barbiegurl777 It might be a good time to try again. If it still doesn't work, you might have to chat with Nintendo about this. I looked up the error code on Nintendo's support site and it said to contact them for support if it's still giving that error. Nintendo's support is pretty good, I've used their chat feature a number of times in the past already. Hope this helped!

I think the region of your game is different with region of your eshop account.
If they are not matched, you cannot collect the my points coins.

No. My Rugrats game is an American game. Tried to register it / get coins on American account. Also a few days ago got coins for totally spies Nintendo switch just fine also a physical copy. I tried Rugrats on my switch lite as well & also got the same error code for same game. Thinking it's the game... 🤷‍♀️

I'm hesitant to contact Nintendo the last time I did they got snippety with me because I have several accounts on my Nintendo switch & acted like they weren't going to help me because of that. Haven't bothered calling them since then been over a year ago by now if not longer... 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️✌️ Push comes to shove I'll purposely wait for the same game to go on sale in the eshop & dl it. 🤷‍♀️

@Barbiegurl777 Huh... that is strange they didn't help that time. I'm guessing they assume that everyone uses just one Nintendo account or something. Do you have a US Nintendo account that is your main one? One that you get all your gold coins with? If you do, you could tell the folks at Nintendo that you just use that, and you should have better luck. That's just an idea I have. I wish I knew of an alternative method (besides getting the game from the eShop) and I especially wish it would just give you your coins, but yeah... looks like there's no other way around this. I apologize. Perhaps it's some sort of glitch on the publisher's end, I can't be certain.

@MarioVillager92 I have both a US & Japanese account & get coins on both. I get coins on my Japanese account when I buy physical copies with in the time frame the game was released by release dates the same as I get US physical games as well. They questioned at the time why I had 2 accounts if I could read Japanese etc & when I told them yes I can read Japanese & have / play both types of games on my American switch. They made me feel like I should only buy American games & if I bought games from another country it's such a big sin. There making profit off of me because I buy games from, America, UK, & Japan. I could care less where I get the get the game as long as it's a legit copy & not a bootleg, cheap, & I can read the text in the game. I have Google translate on my phone that's how I read / play Japanese games, books, & anime TV series. Not an issue for me just like it in general. I do know some of the Japanese language with out Google translate because studied it years ago when I was a kid not to mention sat with several Japanese students who were my friends in both middle & high school. Sat with Japanese girls at lunch, & study hall about different words, phrases, even how to make a bento box, we even traded game boy color games to play at lunch they were asking me about characters in my American game that they were unfamiliar with & vice versa we ended up laughing about it close to 20 years ago by now but still remember quite a bit of what I learned both then & now. I even had a pen pal from Japan sometimes we'd talk online other times snail mail either way still fun times. 🤷‍♀️

I did call nintendo this morning... They wanted the serial number off the back of my oled (not a problem) then told me it was a download only game & that was the only way I could get coins. They also said the game not released in my region. I told them I have an American account & the game is American then they asked the region on the game cartridge I told them USA then they asked me how much I spent for the game which was $39.99 plus 7% sales tax on Amazon. I told them I paid the higher price because I wanted the physical copy & am aware in the eshop it cost $24.99 for 125 gold coins. I informed them that I bought the game new & sealed off Amazon & have seen it being sold in stores. I had $1.33 in gold coins now I have $1.87 in gold coins & a wasted hour on the phone with them. Hopefully no one else has to fight them on getting there gold coins over this game. I felt like they were giving me the third degree for no reason when I was in the right & paid for the game in the timely manner a few month's after the release date: 9/10/24 well with in the time frame to get my measly 50 coins. 🤦‍♀️ Good luck to anyone buying the physical copy~ 🤦‍♀️✌️

Sometimes it can depend on the country origin of the code used for the game. Even if it was an ESRB-rated release, the code used could've originated from a different region of the world. You see this quite often. North American releases only giving you gold coins if you redeem them with a UK account. Or a French account, or a German account, or a Japanese account, etc.

@Barbiegurl777 Sounds like you got the coins now at least, glad everything went OK in that respect. But yeah... that was a bit of a weird issue in how it wouldn't give you them at first. I guess it sounded like the guys at Nintendo weren't aware there was a US physical release of that game. Going off of what @Magician said, the publisher of that game might've been from a different region or something. Just an educated guess on my part.
