Topic: Splatoon 4- Hopes, Theories and Predictions

I'm hoping 4 has a long story mode. I love the Splatoon world but not the online multiplayer part 😅 tbh, what I really want is a spinoff game but I would take a standard game with a really beefy story mode.

See! I totally forgot about that and it makes so much sense. It would honestly be surprising for them NOT to do it at this point. Octavio (I think) is good now so we need a new villain

Ooh, I think you guys are cooking something there! I don't know how they could retcon more mammals into existence but if they can do it without breaking the lore? I am 100% on board!

I always thought it would be cool if Splatoon had a villainess, like an evil idol. Female characters are prominent in the Splatoon series, after all. If not in the main Story Mode, maybe in the DLC campaign?

I agree that Octavio has genuinely reformed. I don't think he's like Bowser from certain Mario RPG games in that he's just temporarily helping the heroes stop a worse villain. Tartar was destroyed at the end of Octo Expansion. I guess Mr. Grizz COULD return since he's not dead, but I believe Li'l Judd has too many suspicious signs.

The only problem is that Past won the splatfest and space usually is more related to the future. If they really rely on that Rabbits on the moon myth then maybe. Or they could start exploring the moon and find old relics of that one space colony that had Mr. Grizz

NGL that sounds awesome and she would be my favorite character if they do her justice. Like a better evil Callie!!!

@Gamergirl4 Exactly, Octo Callie was a huge missed opportunity. Instead of just appearing in the final boss battle, Callie could’ve taunted Agent 4 and Marie throughout the story mode, and 4 could’ve fought her like the new 3 did with Deep Cut instead of Callie just performing.

Part of the problem was that Splatoon wasn’t more cinematic back then. I’ve liked how the series has stepped it up since then with each story mode.

@Dev1024 Yes! They were close with evil Callie and fighting Deep Cut, but I want more! (evil laugh) Seriously, what if Li'l Judd teams up with another villain or something for S4? Perhaps a lady bunny, evil inkfish girl, perhaps a brand new species... or maybe (just maybe) a Queen Salmonid?

See now I'm upset bc that actually sounds so dope. Think they'll do that with another character later in the series?

One thing I thought of that would be amazing in Splatoon 4 would be that Salmon Run (or its hypothetical replacement) could have more than 4 players. Imagine having 6 cowokers fighting off the enemy! Not only would it be unique, it would open up a lot of possibilities for enemies (and you would have fewer "everyone threw bombs into the same Flyfish basket" scenarios!).

I just heard someone theorize about Chirpy Chips becoming the idol group in 4 since

• They are in every game
• There are four of them
• Harmony already got a bit of bigger role in the lore

Though I honestly don't love their songs, I would not be against this!!

I saw this today and totally agree. That would be so amazing!

I could see Splatoon 4 exploring the connection between "Song" and "Color. Side Order underlined this when Agent 8's "beat of their heart" restored color the area/world/whatever. It's possible that the "passed the incantation down from Humans" was done in the form of music. Our dreams made into song, absorbed by liquid crystals, and into the bodies of the sea life that would take over the planet.

@gamergirl4 What if (this is off the top of my head) but what if the hypothetical "moon bunnies" somehow sabotaged the ships, hence why Grizz was the only survivor? And now they want to hide what they did by (ready for this?) erasing the past (or rather, documantation of it, like ORCA and such. Not literally un-existing the past haha)?! Boom, now we have a game about saving/remembering the past, without it being time travel!

I was just thinking recently of the crystal liquid humans discovered in the squids of Alterna. Pretty sure that pseudoscientific concept will be further explored in 4's story mode. In a way, humanity lives on in the Inklings and Octolings.

Song having some sort of mystical power in certain individuals has been in the series since the beginning, whether it's the Squid Sisters' singing or Pearl's scream.

Maybe their leader pulled a Tartar and was disgusted at humans? Though at that point they would still be normal rabbits... IDK abt this one I'm at a bit of a dead end

@Gamergirl4 Fair point.... But I think we all know at this point that the Splatoon devs know what they are doing, and how to weave a story, even if it seems impossible!

All I want from a sequel is to be allowed to use up and down on the right analogue stick when using gyro aiming (I’m assuming that was never added to Splatoon 3, I tried the demo and it didn’t allow it so I didn’t buy the full game).

@BulkSlash that is correct. Splatoon 3 does not allow up and down camera control with the R stick. Personally I wouldn't use it anyway, but I totally understand your annoyance.
