I got sidetracked last year and ended up not finishing any games on my 2DS.
But with the imminent? announcement of the successor to the Switch, it reminded me of all the games I have unfinished on my 2DS. LOL.
Top of my list is to finally finish Zelda OOT. I'm almost done. But I've been almost done since early last year. But I took a sidetrack to run back through the game for missing points. LOL.
Another is Super Mario 3D Land. I finished the regular worlds, but haven't really explored the special worlds.
After that I'm going to start 2 games. I'm going to start Zelda MM and Mario vs. Donkey Kong Minis March Again!
TBH . . . in the "old days" I tried to 100% the games I really liked, but I don't do that anymore. LOL. Too many good games I want to try.
Yokai Watch 3 Tempura
I found one way to level up quickly by violating the traffic light intentionally and trolling the Red Oni.
When I got warning for several times, the Snartle will appeared and attacked me, but I quickly choose give up to repeat the process until Red Oni appeared and I fought him.
The EXP earned from defeating Red Oni can be more than 11K Points.
I’m still playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate pretty regularly, with a bit of Metroid Prime: Federation Force every now and then.
I really wish the eShop was still up, I only got back into playing my 3DS regularly around when the online servers shut down and there’s some online content (like the StreetPass games) that I never got to grab.
@Anti-Matter
Ok, that's pretty cool. TBH I had to look up Yoaki Watch 3 . . . Looks like there would be a lot of memory and strategy involved in that game. Not something I'm good at, at gaming these days. LOL.
@SteveDaSteve
I know someone that upgraded their 3DS to a N3DS to play Monster Hunter (I can't remember which MH). I haven't watched the movie. RE: Eshop . . . yeah, I wish it were still open too. When it was closing down, I bought a bunch of the Game Boy games, which now all of them are available through NSO. LOL. But hopefully it will give me something to play if I ever get done playing the 3 Zelda games I've got. LOL.
@Tasuki
LOL. TBH it never even occurred to me to rename the old thread. LOL. A couple of the other forums I visit, the title and post get locked after a day so that no one can go back a revise an old post. But . . . I kinda think it's like having a New Year's Resolution by making a new thread for the year. Forget what happened last year and . . . make new plans for this year. It's kinda refreshing!
I am still "playing" Kirby Clash Deluxe, the worst Kirby game by 100 miles. I have probably started that game up 300+ times and only 1/6 of them were to do anything other than pick up apple gems.
I also played Star Stacker, which means I've almost played every older Kirby. Only ones left are the SNES version of Star Stacker and I've only briefly played the other SNES puzzle game. I believe I have 6 more 3DS games left unplayed, VC including. (though one of those, DK 94, I played quite a bit of like 20 years ago, for whatever that's worth)
Games I’ll go back to this year:
Frogger 3D
Last few stages of Kirby Blowout Blast
Yoshi Wooly World
Captain Toad
Kirby Epic Yarn
Pacman and Galaga pack
Shovel Knight - king knight dlc
Mighty SF 2
Pushmo
Hey Pikmin
Mario 64 port
Games I’ll replay:
Majoras Mask
Kirby Triple Dx
NSMB2
Star Fox
Nano Assault
Kid Icarus
@NintendoByNature — I had to look up FE shadows of Valentia. Looks like a good game. Probably way over my head or attention span. LOL.
@kkslider5552000 — I had to look up Kirby Star Stacker. I even had a Game Boy, but I never heard of Star Stacker before. 'you learn something "old" everyday I guess. LOL. And . . . I've heard of DK '94. I'm hoping that Nintendo brings that one to NSO. I take it you aren't "exactly?" enjoying Kirby Crash Deluxe. If you are in fact not enjoying it, why do you keep playing it?
@NinChocolate — I'm sure I read that you could play Master Quest on the 3DS version of OOT, but I totally forgot about that. Is it a lot more difficult? You've got a good list of games to get back to / replay on your 3DS . . . which have been your favourites so far?
Actually . . . an open question to anyone . . . what has been your favourite 3DS (or VC) game?
I take it you aren't "exactly?" enjoying Kirby Crash Deluxe. If you are in fact not enjoying it, why do you keep playing it?
Because I might as well beat every Kirby game. It's one of the few series even close to its size that I plan to play every single game for, and I've beaten nearly every Kirby game pre-Switch. This is maybe the first one that isn't even remotely good, which is unfortunate but it also took...25 years.

Ahh . . . ok, that makes sense now.
So how many do you have left? Just the 2?
I'm kinda trying to do that with Metroid 2D platformers, but on a much smaller scale.
I'm trying to finish . . .
Metroid Zero Mission (GBA cart on my DS Lite) - Just started this.
Metroid Samus Returns on my 2DS - Finished this.
Super Metroid - I haven't started this, but plan to play on NSO
Metroid Fusion (GBA cart on my DS Lite) - Just started this.
Metroid Dread - I haven't bought it yet, but plan to either this month or next.
I'm not going to bother with Metroid (NES) or The Return of Samus (GB). But I have those as VC on my 2DS, just in case. LOL.

Out of the Kirby series, those two games, the SNES puzzle games and everything from 2018 onward
Currently playing Metroid: Samus returns on hard mode. Suprisingly easy to be hard mode. I am two thirds in so hopefully it gets a bit harder soon.
I don't own a Switch, and recently got back into gaming. Dusted of my 3DS and WiiU, and playing games that I never played before, or wanted to replay, while waiting for Switch 2.
Been buying quite a few games for both systems so my backlog is stacking up 😄
RE: Samus Returns Hard Mode — I keep forgetting that you have the option for hard mode. LOL. I really enjoyed playing this game. It would be one of the few games I would take the time to play through again . . . but I never played the other Metroid games, so I'm working through a few of them now. Currently on Zero Mission.
Are you planning to get a Switch 2? Are you planning to play Dread? I haven't played it yet. I'm planning to get to it after getting through Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Fusion.
RE: Backlog on 3DS . . . What's on your list after Samus Returns?
@NintendoDad
I enjoy it also, a really good Metroid game in my opinion. I started hard mode right after finishing normal difficulty. I like that it has different endings depending on how long it takes for you to finish the game.
I have played every Metroid game except for Other M and Dread. The former I have no interest in, and the later I will definitely buy ones I get a Switch 2.
Zero mission is great. It has so many quality of life improvements over the original. I remember playing the original game around the time it came out. Being a kid I had, and how games where designed back then, I had very high patiens with not being able to view a map or any form of indication on where to go. Instead it was trial and error and making ones own maps. Would never do that now
Backlog wise, I have a lot of games. Stopped playing games around 2016 when I started my PhD. Now that I am finished I dug the consoles out and realized I bought a ton of games that I never played. And that there are even more games I do not have that I want to play.
Some games that I own which are on my current to play list for the 3DS is: Majoras Mask 3D (have not played this game since the N64), Ridge Racer 3D, Captain Toad, Dragon Quest 8, New Super Mario 2 and Picross 3D 2.
I really love the 3DS, such a nice little portable. Missed playing games on it.
RE: Metroid — Yeah. I keep forgetting about Other M. But I definitely want to play through Dread.
As for Zero Mission QoL improvements . . . I agree. At my age, I realize if I tried to play through OG Metroid 1 I would probably never get around to playing the whole 2D series. LOL. When I get stuck I look up walkthroughs on-line. For me at this point in time playing these games is a lot about just getting to play these games and admire how their game play and story are so amazing, and how well developed they were so early on.
RE: Backlog . . . well, understandable taking a break for your PhD! As for the old games . . . if you want to play them, then you might as well. LOL. If not, then they might become that scratch you can't itch! As for buying more for old consoles . . . IMHO I'd see what is being ported to Switch/2.
As for your 3DS, don't get rid of it. It's nice and small. More convenient than a Switch IMHO. And since you got some games for it, might as well use it 'til it doesn't work anymore.
After OOT, MM is going to be my next LoZ game. I'll split my time between MM and Zero Mission. Then I'll switch into LoZ Link Between Worlds or Metroid Fusion depending on which I finish first.
@NintendoDad
RE: Metroid - Yeah, while I do enjoy 'old school' game design and difficulty to some extent, sometimes you just want to sit back enjoy the game.
RE: Backlog - Definitely, it's the same when I buy games for my Wii U. I recently picked up Paper Mario color splash as it is not on any other system. I actually enjoyed Sticker Star 😱, so I am looking forward to play it.
I usually dont sell systems that I really enjoy. I still have my old Game Cube, DS, Vita etc. While I would not hook up my old Cubex the DS and Vita whil definitely get some play time further on.
A Link between words is a great game. I have not played it since around it came out. Should definitely re-visit that too.

RE: Sit back and enjoy . . . That's what it looks like I am finally doing. LOL. Up until this point, a lot of my gaming time was playing party games with the family or co-op games with my kids. But my kids are at the age where they are playing with their friends a lot, so I'm glad about that. The last few years has really been the 1st time I spent more time gaming by myself than co-op or party. LOL.
RE: Old consoles . . . long, long ago I had a Commodore 64. That's what I gamed on. And then during university, I didn't have a TV, so I had a Game Boy. And then eventually a Sega Game Gear, and then a Sega Genesis Nomad. But eventually I gave away all the game machines to my nephews. I'm kicking myself for getting rid of the Nomad. LOL. So I haven't gotten rid of a single console since. LOL. I've still got our Game Cube, Wii, DS Lite, Wii U, and now a 2DS and Switch. Funny when the Switch came out, I looked at it and remembered my Sega Genesis Nomad and thought . . . I've already done that. LOL.
RE: Link Between Worlds . . . yeah, I think I'll enjoy that one. 'looking forward to it.
RE: LBW or MM . . . I'm planning to "eventually" get to both of those. MM looks a little daunting. LOL. We'll see.
Update: So I've finally got back into OOT after not playing it for about a year. I finally decided to try out IGN's checklist to see what I've missed. So I've been finding out about obscure collectables that I knew nothing about. LOL. And stuff that are not needed to finish the game. But I went and collected them anyway . . . I figure . . . this may be the only time I play the game (Unless they bring out a killer version for Switch 2. LOL.) So since I am so close to being able to 100% it, I might as well. I'm hoping that I can finish this up in about a month or so. Not that I am that far away from the end, but I only have 30 minutes here or an hour there that I play so it takes me a while to progress through stuff. LOL.
RE: OOT was the first game I played after digging out my New 3ds from storage. I have finished that game so many times over the years, on many different platforms, but the 3ds version is definitely my favourite.
On my most recent playthrough I collected everything except the Hylian Loach. I have done this before and I did not bother this time.
Are you planing on playing Master Quest mode? It is really fun and a bit more challenging, well worth going through.
